Bookish Fun

My Favorite Quotes From Books | Part 2

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I’ve been pretty busy with Camp NaNoWriMo, so I haven’t had as much time to work on posts. But I’m trying to keep them as balanced as possible. Today, I’m doing part two of my favorite quotes from books. I did the first post back in January, after being inspired by a conversation I had with a friend. I realized a little while ago that I never followed up. Click here to read part one.

I think a lot of people could relate to this quote. It’s fun to dream about something you want or someone you aspire to be, but there’s always that fear that you won’t end up achieving it. That disappointment can hurt, but you still dream.

I have a lot of quotes that I like in These Violent Delights but I think this one takes the prize. It’s a small quote, but it says so much in it. The stars, or fate or some predestined thing, may nudge you in a certain direction, but ultimately, it’s up to you to decide what you want in life.

The Starless Sea is one of my favorite books–partially because of Erin Morgenstern’s beautiful writing–and this quote is beautifully written. I was initially drawn to it because of the space aspect. This book has a dream-like feeling to it and the quote has the same vibe.

I’ll Give You the Sun is one of the only books that has made me have not quite dry eyes when I was reading it. I love broken relationships that heal over the course of a book and this definitely delivers it. I like how this quote talks about how we change and grow all the time. Jude and Noah develop as the book progresses, eventually finding their way back to each other.

A prominent aspect of Perfect on Paper is the LGBTQ+ representation. Darcy, the MC, is bisexual, and there are side characters who are lesbian and transgender. I love this quote because of its inclusiveness and how communities can be formed with people.

You all know I love found family and this quote is the epitome of it. TMBS has a lot of found family in it, which makes this quote even more meaningful. You can find family in so many places, whether or not the people are your blood relatives.

Wonder is another one of my favorite books. Being kind is one of the most important things a person can be. This book highlights what being kind can result in and how you don’t need to be a jerk to get attention.

Even though this quote is short, it speaks volumes. Darius the Great is Not Okay is a coming-of-age novel and it includes characters with depression. This quote emphasizes that it’s okay to feel sad or have feelings other than happiness. It’s not a bad thing.

Well if this isn’t the truest sentence ever, I don’t know what is. The Ghosts We Keep explores grief, showing that it isn’t something predictable and that everyone experiences it differently. Liam’s journey after their brother’s death is messy and it highlights the fact that it’s okay to feel uncertain.

A Wish in the Dark was such a good read and this quote really captures what the story is about: justice and finding out whether ordinary civilians can make a change. This quote can apply to the real world as well and what society is like today.

Have you read any of these books? What are some of your favorite book quotes?
