WWW Wednesday #5

Hello, everyone! I hope you’re doing well. Today I have another reading update.

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words and how it works is I answer three questions about what I’m currently reading, what I recently finished reading, and what I plan on reading next.

The three W’s:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING?

I’m currently reading Winterkeep (Graceling Realm #4) by Kristin Cashore. I’m really enjoying it so far.

Synopsis: “Four years after Bitterblue left off, a new land has been discovered to the east: Torla; and the closest nation to Monsea is Winterkeep. Winterkeep is a land of miracles, a democratic republic run by people who like each other, where people speak to telepathic sea creatures, adopt telepathic foxes as pets, and fly across the sky in ships attached to balloons.

But when Bitterblue’s envoys to Winterkeep drown under suspicious circumstances, she and Giddon and her half sister, Hava, set off to discover the truth–putting both Bitterblue’s life and Giddon’s heart to the test when Bitterbue is kidnapped. Giddon believes she has drowned, leaving him and Hava to solve the mystery of what’s wrong in Winterkeep.

Lovisa Cavenda is the teenage daughter of a powerful Scholar and Industrialist (the opposing governing parties) with a fire inside her that is always hungry, always just nearly about to make something happen. She is the key to everything, but only if she can figure out what’s going on before anyone else, and only if she’s willing to transcend the person she’s been all her life.”

WHAT DID YOU RECENTLY FINISH READING?

I recently finished reading Elske (Tales of the Kingdom #4) by Cynthia Voigt. It was a pretty good read. There were a few things I didn’t like about it, though. I’ll be reviewing it on Sunday, if you’d like to know more.

Synopsis: “Two Women
Elske — a girl with no future, until her grandmother’s sacrifice saves her from certain death
Beriel — an imperious princess, determined to claim the kingdom that is her birthright
Fate brings them together, both exiles, one servant to the other. To Beriel, the mistress, Elske offers steadfast loyalty and courage — hard to come by in her dangerous quest to regain the throne she has been denied by treachery. To Elske, the handmaiden, Beriel’s proud example provides a perhaps even more precious gift — the strength to find her true self.”

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’LL READ NEXT?

I’m planning on reading The Princess Bride by William Goldman. I’ve seen the movie like two hundred times, but I’ve never read the book and I’d like to.

Synopsis: “What happens when the most beautiful girl in the world marries the handsomest prince of all time and he turns out to be…well…a lot less than the man of her dreams?

As a boy, William Goldman claims, he loved to hear his father read the S. Morgenstern classic, The Princess Bride. But as a grown-up he discovered that the boring parts were left out of good old Dad’s recitation, and only the “good parts” reached his ears.

Now Goldman does Dad one better. He’s reconstructed the “Good Parts Version” to delight wise kids and wide-eyed grownups everywhere.

What’s it about? Fencing. Fighting. True Love. Strong Hate. Harsh Revenge. A Few Giants. Lots of Bad Men. Lots of Good Men. Five or Six Beautiful Women. Beasties Monstrous and Gentle. Some Swell Escapes and Captures. Death, Lies, Truth, Miracles, and a Little Sex.

In short, it’s about everything.”

Have you read any of the books I mentioned? What are you currently reading?
