A Hike to the Falls

I was planning to have photography be a monthly thing, but seeing that my last photography post was in April 2021, that clearly didn’t happen. I just didn’t go to many places that I deemed picture-taking worthy. Or I forgot to bring something to take pictures with.

Anyhow, I finally have some pictures to share! I went on a hike with my mom and a friend of ours to see the waterfalls during winter break. It was a great day to go hiking because it was cool out so we didn’t get tired from the heat. The only slight problem was that it had rained earlier in the week, so there was a lot of mud. I took these pictures from my phone, so they’re not the best quality, and the sun was also being annoying some of the time.

These first two were from the beginning of our hike. The trail was very muddy and I had inches of mud stuck to the bottom of my hiking boots.

We saw some mushrooms on a log and my mom, a botanist at heart, was very excited to see them. The flatter ones are called turkey tails and the two squishier-looking ones are tremellas.

The first set of falls was a couple miles up the trail. I was surprised to such a large flow of water since California has had its fair share of droughts these past few years. But it was full and rushing along happily. We had to cross a lot of streams since they ran perpendicular to the trail; luckily, my hiking boots are somewhat waterproof or else my feet would have been soaked.

My feet were very tired by the time we got to the main trail and were headed down. In total, the hike was about 5 and a half miles and a lot of it was spent going up. Overall, though, the hike was a lot of fun. I haven’t done a big hike like that in a while because school has kept me busy.

So, that’s all the pictures I have! This post is much shorter than usual, but I don’t have a lot much else to say about these photos. I’m probably not going to be as active with the blogosphere over the next few days. School started back up and homework is piling up. I’ll still be posting, but I may not be as active on other people’s blogs. I’ll try, though!

How are you all doing today? What do you think of the pictures?
Do you enjoy hiking?
