Get to Know Ya Book Tag

Hey, everyone! Today I’m doing something a little different and I’m doing my first tag. I’ve been blogging for about three and a half months now, but you still don’t know much about me and I thought this was a fun way to get to know me a little bit better: through books! I saw Katie @ Whispering Pages do this and it looks really fun.

Favorite Book of All Time

I’m always terrible at answering this question. I have to choose ONE? I’m never able to choose one, so I’m going to do a few of my all-time favorite books.

Wonder ~ This book is such a heart-warming story and it has the really important message of being kind, even to those who may look different than you. It shows that we’re all human and that if you can be compassionate, you can make someone feel accepted.

The Starless Sea ~ I love the world that Morgenstern created in this story. All the events connecting together to create this fantasy world underneath our own sounds pretty amazing.

Under a Painted Sky ~ One reason I like this book so much is because the cover is so pretty with the ombre sky. But I also love the storyline and the journey that the two girls travel on together. The strong female protagonists and diversity in the story makes me like it even more.

Echo ~  I read this a really long time ago, but I still remember all the amazing writing and the stories that are all connected. All three stories connecting together and having this one harmonica be the symbol for the book was so cool.

Favorite Book Five Years Ago

I’m going to say the Land of Stories series. I honestly don’t remember, but I believe I read these books five years ago. I loved this series, it mixed reality with fairytales, and had plenty of magic, action, and adventure. What more could anyone want?

Favorite Series

I couldn’t decide between the two, so I’m going with either Percy Jackson and the Olympians or The Song of the Lioness. Both of these series I read and reread a lot. I think I actually only physically read them once, the rest of the times, I’ll listen to them on audiobook when I need help falling asleep or if I’m on a long car ride.

Last Book You Read

I recently finished A Million Suns (Across the Universe #2) by Beth Revis. It was a good book. It started out slightly slower than the first book but I liked it. The mystery that Amy and Elder have to solve was fascinating.

Last Fantasy Book You Read

The original question was last poetry book you read, but I never read poetry, so I changed it to last fantasy book because I read a lot of those.

The last fantasy book I read was Wizard’s Hall by Jane Yolen. I didn’t like it very much. It wasn’t long enough to have very much exposition or character development and it felt too rushed. There wasn’t enough time to really get to know the characters and want to root for them, to win.

Book That Most Influenced Your Life

I honestly don’t really know what book influenced my life the most, there’s probably a whole bunch. But today, I’m going with the Anna Wang series by Andrea Chang, the first one is The Year of The Book. I read these when I was younger, in first or second grade. I remember enjoying them a lot. Anna, the main character is a lot like me. She’s an introvert, she likes to read a lot. And not to mention that she’s Chinese-American. Or as Anna likes to call it, ABC, American Born Chinese.

Book That Made You Ugly Cry

Umm. . . I’m not a person who usually cries while reading a book. I’m typically more emotional when watching movies because it seems so much more real, but even then, I’m not one to cry when reading books.

Book That Made You Laugh

The Sword of Summer and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy were definetely two books that were quite funny. Magnus Chase’s narration is hilarious, plus all the ridiculous chapter names that Rick Riordan comes up with. As for Douglas Adams’ book, the whole storyline is basically trying to find the meaning of life, out in space.

Book So Good You Dreamt About It

I don’t think I’ve ever dreamed about a book. Or if I did, I don’t remember.

Book You DNFed

I tried to read The Giver by Lois Lowry when I was in fifth grade, I think, and I just didn’t get into it very much. I think it just started off too slow for my like, if I remember correctly. Or it wasn’t my style; I honestly don’t remember what happens in the part that I read.

Book You Are Most Excited To Read

You Have a Match ~ I’ve seen this book appear on a lot of people’s blogs lately, so I looked it up and it seems like a really interesting book.

100 Days of Sunlight ~ My friend recommended this book to me and it seems really interesting. I feel like it’s going to be a book that will annoy me, but in a good way, if that makes any sense. But I’m still looking forward to it.

Have you read any of the books I mentioned? What are some of your favorite books? Have you ever dreamed about a book?
