The Mysterious Benedict Society Book Tag (Original!)

When I found out that the Mysterious Benedict Society series was getting a TV show, I was very excited. I’m sad the first season only has eight episodes, but they’re all done very well, so I’m not complaining. So, in (very late) honor of the Mysterious Benedict Society book series TV show getting released on Disney+, I decided to make a tag surrounding it!

I was honestly a little nervous to post this, because I’ve never made a tag before and I don’t want to mess anything up, but I figured that it would be really fun to share with you all, so I gave it a go.

A few notes before we start:

  • All of the prompts are spoiler-free, and you don’t need to have read the series to do it. If you’ve read the series, the prompts are more likely going to make sense, but it doesn’t matter.
  • I know that this was originally a book series, but for the pictures on the graphics, I’m using photos from the TV show as a way to kind of link the two together. The Ten Men get a picture from the books because I couldn’t find a live action photo.
  • The quotes I added underneath each prompt are said by the respective person above. (I’m pretty sure, like 98% sure all of them are said by that person. I apologize if they’re not.) I thought they would be a fun addition to the tag.

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who tagged you and link back to their post.
  • Link back to the original creator: Lotus @ Pages of Starlight.
  • Answer the 10 prompts and feel free to use the graphics! (Here is a google drive folder of all of them. For clear images, use 1025 x 250 dimensions.)
  • Tag however many people who want!

“Is this what family is like: the feeling that everyone’s connected, that with one piece missing, the whole thing’s broken?”

I know this prompt is kind of specific, but I literally had no idea what else to do for Reynie because he was such a hard character to come up for a prompt with.

Outrun the Moon by Stacey Lee

When the 1906 San Francisco earthquake hits the city and Mercy and her friends are forced to live in the park, everyone turns to Mercy to be the leader and tell them what to do. And while Mercy doesn’t exactly want to do it, she does it for the sake of her friends. She teaches them what to do and how to work together in order to survive. I loved this historical fiction novel, learning about the earthquake and how people were able to survive.

“Listen, just do what you think is right, and we’ll support it.”

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

I’ve read or listened to this book countless times, I honestly don’t know how many. I wouldn’t be able to recount it word for word, but I know the introduction of the book pretty well, the “Look, I didn’t want to be a half-blood” part.

“Even if you catch me, I’ll fight you. And believe me, you won’t like it.”

These Violent Delights (These Violent Delights #1) by Chloe Gong

I’m a little over half way through this book at the moment and I’m loving it. From the overall storyline about people ripping their own throats out, to the fights that happen between the two gangs, These Violent Delights has a ton of action throughout the book.

“Rules and school are tools for fools! I don’t give two mules for rules.”

Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales

Need I say more? But seriously, this book is full of sarcastic and sassy humor, usually consisting of banter between Darcy and Brougham. Their annoyance towards to each other at the beginning of the book made for a very funny read with great dialogue between the two characters.

“Family members can be your best friends, you know. And best friends, whether or not they are related to you, can be your family.”

I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson

I don’t usually get too emotional when reading books, but something about I’ll Give You the Sun got to me. Noah and Jude’s relationship was so precious and heartbreaking at the same time. I loved this book!

“The missing aren’t missing, they’re only departed…”

The Night Diary by Veera Hiranandani

This book didn’t exactly change my thoughts, but I learned a lot about the Partition of India and the journeys that many families had to make in order to survive. Beforehand, I didn’t know much about the history between India and Pakistan, but while reading The Night Diary, I learned so much. It was a wonderful book and especially interesting to listen to on audiobook.

“Don’t be ridiculous. I could slap you perfectly well with your eyes open.”

Graceling (Graceling Realm #1) by Kristin Cashore

I won’t say much because of spoilers, but when Po got injured on their journey to escape Monsea, I could not stop thinking about what would happen to him. It broke my heart for what they had to do and I sometimes laid in bed at night, trying to go to sleep but having all the thoughts about Po getting hurt keeping me awake.

“Don’t be silly,” […] “If you aren’t the most gifted person ever to have taken Mr. Benedict’s test, I’m the queen of England.”

The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

I didn’t really expect this book to be funny, but there were definetely some parts that I found to be humorous. It was mostly small little phrases and thoughts from the protagonist and I enjoyed reading them.

“Remember, children. For every exit, there is also an entrance.”

Top 30 Neville Longbottom GIFs | Find the best GIF on Gfycat

Neville Longbottom from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

From the beginning, Neville shows his bravery. Although he is scared and reluctant to, he doesn’t back down from a challenge and will do what it takes to protect his friends. He’s an extremely loyal and true Gryffindor.

The Ten Men don’t get a quote because I couldn’t find one that fit.

The Weight of the Stars by K. Ancrum

I feel like I’ve talked about this book pretty often as of late, but I’m going to talk about it again. After I finished reading this, I was left with so many different feelings at once, I had no idea what to think. It was sad and bittersweet and surprising and happy and hopeful and–okay, you get my point. This book hurt me, in a good way.

The Prompts

If you would like to use the graphics, you can get all of them in this google drive folder or from above. If not, here is an easy copy-paste list:
