Review: Rise to the Sun by Leah Johnson

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I’m getting ready to go camping tomorrow, which I’m looking forward to. This will be the only post this week until Friday, as I’ll be gone on Tuesday. Today, I have a review for one of the books I read for Pride Month! Rise to the Sun was one of my most anticipated releases for 2021. I loved Leah Johnson’s debut novel, You Should See Me in a Crown, so I had some hopes for this. Unfortunately, this book didn’t quite live up to them. Title: Rise to the SunAuthor: Leah JohnsonGenre: YA Contemporary RomanceSeries: NonePage Count: 336 (hardcover) A stunning novel…

    2022 Pride Month TBR

Happy almost Pride Month, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. Like last year, I am planning on reading books with LGBTQ+ rep in June. As a person with a family member who is transgender, support for the LGBTQ+ community is important to me. I’m setting my TBR lower this year, so hopefully I can get through all of them. Heartstopper: Volume Three and Volume Four by Alice Oseman I finished the second volume a little while ago and I can’t wait to read the rest of them. Charlie and Nick are so perfect together. I am an adamant “book before movie/TV show” person, so I had to read the…

13 Books By Black Authors | Honoring Black History Month

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I’m a bit late with this post, seeing that it’s already over halfway through February, but I still thought it was a good topic to bring up. In the US, February is Black History Month! It is celebrated to commemorate the legacies and the struggles of African Americans throughout US history. So, I present to you 13 books written by black authors. I’ve read about half of these, the other half are on my TBR. You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson Ahh, this book was so entertaining. Liz was an amazing protagonist, with a well-written character arc. She…

Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Releases for the 2nd Half of 2021

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. There are so many books coming out this year that I want to read and there’s so little time. It seems like every day, I discover a book on someone’s blog that looks interesting and it gets added to my TBR. It’s like a totally unfair imbalance: I finish a book and five more get added to my list. Okay, I’ll stop complaining. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl where there is a topic and you make a list that best fits it. Today’s topic is Most Anticipated Releases of the Second Half…

    Pride Month TBR

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re doing well. As I’m sure most of you know, June is Pride Month, so I have a list of some books with LGBTQ+ representation that I’m planning on reading this month. This is a very ambitious TBR, because I normally don’t read this many books per month, but hopefully I’ll get through some of them. All of these books are new to me, so I’m looking forward to reading them. I honestly don’t have a whole lot to say about these books, except for the fact that I’m really looking forward to reading them. I’ve heard a lot of good things about all of these…
