Wrap-Ups

July Wrap-Up | Very Busy, Not Exactly in a Good Way

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. These months keep flying by and it’s like I can’t keep up. This month kept me so busy, I didn’t have a lot of time to focus on the things I wanted to do like writing and being active on my blog and others. Nevertheless, this month still went okay.

BOOKS READ

The Weight of the Stars by K. Ancrum| ★★★★1/2
I started out not loving this book, I didn’t get what the hype of it was. But then the ending came and I discovered that it is brilliant. The last 20ish percent of the book had so many emotions in it and it was so heartbreaking, but I loved it all the same.

Perfect on Paper by Sophie Gonzales|★★★★
I loved the banter between Darcy and Brougham in this book. It was a lot of fun to have Darcy as a narrator and her sassy and witty conversations with Brougham made this a really fun read. I also enjoyed the diverse representation, and how Darcy came to learn how to accept herself.

Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas|★★★★
I loved The Hate U Give and this was just as amazing. Learning about Maverick and his backstory and how he grew up in Garden Heights was so fun. This book is definitely not a light read, there are many different complicated topics that are handled, but it’s done really well. Also, I loved finding out the meaning behind Seven and Starr’s names.

STARTED THIS MONTH BUT STILL CR

TBR FOR AUGUST

In addition to These Violent Delights, I’d like to go back to the Strange the Dreamer series and read Muse of Nightmares. I’ve heard some good things about Here the Whole Time and it was part of my Pride Month TBR, which I’m still trying to get through a bit at a time. I’ve been planning to read Darius the Great is Not Okay for a while now, so I’m happy that I’ll be getting to it this month.

I only posted six times this month, which is my lowest yet, excluding December 2020 when I started this blog. I was really busy this month and didn’t have a lot of time, but here are my posts for the month:

Well. . . I did alright, I think. I participated in Camp NaNoWriMo this month, but I was behind from day one. I ended up writing a little under 20k, which is a little over half of what my goal was. I was just so busy with other things, the only time I really had to write was at night, and by then I was tired. I’m hoping to continue to work on my WIP during August, but school is starting soon, so I don’t know how much time I’ll have.

My geometry class literally consumed everything. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t the most fun either. Luckily, I’m finished now and I get a little break before school starts. I don’t understand why high school has to start so early. My first day is August 10th. In elementary and middle school, we started near the end of August, or even in September, after Labor Day. I’ve slowly lost a month of summer vacation! Okay, enough complaining.

I finished Loki a little while ago and I am honestly kind of confused. I have a theory as to what happened, but I have no idea if it’s right or not. I also watched three marvel movies. I started a marvel marathon at the beginning of quarantine because I’d never seen one before and my friends were begging me too, and I’ve still yet to finish. I watched Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Thor: Ragnarok. My favorite was Black Panther; it was really good, though it was really sad at the same time since the actor who plays T’Challa passed away last year.

As I mentioned above, I start school soon. I’m most likely not going to be as active on here as normal, but I’ll try. My school’s going back in person which is really nerve-racking but also a little exciting. I’m kind of actually, very nervous about the social interaction and just getting used to high school in person itself, but I’m hoping I’ll do alright.

July Goals:

  • Read at least 5 books ❌
  • Post at least 10 times ❌
  • Participate in Camp NaNoWriMo ✅
  • Write every day
  • Keep up with geometry ✅

August Goals:

  • Read at least 3 books
  • Post at least 5 times
  • Finish my WIP draft (or at least make progess on it)
  • Drink at least 1 liter of water a day

I unfortunately didn’t get to do a lot of blog hopping this month, and my count on reading other people’s posts was quite low. I often forget to note down people’s posts that I like, so this list shorter than normal.

How was your July? Did you read any good books? Do you have any fun plans for August?
