Wrap-Ups

April Wrap-Up and May Goals

Wow, another month gone by. April went by way too fast. I only have about a month left of school. It’s crazy! I swear the school year only started a little while ago. But time flies, right?

So, let’s review the month, shall we?

I didn’t read too many books this month. I started reading a bit later this month though, because I didn’t have any books to read since they were all being delivered. But I think I still got a decent amount done.

The Secret of Nightingale Wood by Lucy Strange ~ ★★★.5 ~ My Review
I really enjoyed reading this book. I thought that the grief and depression aspect was done well and realistically. However, there was one character who was extremely unrealistic and since he was a main character, I was annoyed for a lot of the book.

Hattie Big Sky (Hattie #1) by Kirby Larson ~ ★★★
This was a lot of fun to read. I got to learn what it was like to be a homesteader in Montana in the early 1900s. After reading this, I realized that I do not want to live in Montana, that’s for sure. It is really beautiful there, but the winters and summers that were described just wouldn’t do it for me.

The Downstairs Girl by Stacey Lee ~ ★★★★ ~ My Review
I was on a roll with historical fiction books this month. I love Stacey Lee’s books and this one was great as well. Jo was a great narrator and the story behind her parentage was fascinating and confusing at the same time.

Lost in the Never Woods
by Aiden Thomas
I enjoyed reading this. I’m still not sure what to rate it though. It was slightly slow paced in my opinion, there were times in the book where I just didn’t feel like I needed to know what happened next. I still enjoyed it overall.

I wrote 12 posts this month. Not my best, but this month was kind of weird and there has been some other stuff in my life that has taken precedence over my blog. Anyways, here are my posts for this month:

I got some decent writing done this, which I’m happy about. I’m not done with my prologue yet, which was my goal this month, but I’m planning to work on it more later. I’m still debating whether I actually need the prologue or not, but I’m writing it anyway. I feel like it’s a necessary part of the story that needs to be explained before, but I’m also not sure if I could find a way to work it into the story later.

  • April. . . was not the best, honestly. It’s been a rough 2021 so far. Some stuff in my personal life has been hard to deal with, but this blog has helped me focus on things other than that.
  • There are a few things that were good, though! I got to go to Death Valley and that was a lot of fun, even if it was really hot.
  • I watched Julie and the Phantoms and loved it. The singing is amazing and I really want there to be a season two.

  • I also started watching WandaVision, and I’m really enjoying that too. It’s interesting and creepy enough to make you want to continue watching, but not creepy enough to scare you.

  • I have one month left of school. Well, a little more, but my finals are at the beginning of June and then I’ll be done! I’m very ready to have summer break and just be able to relax and focus on stuff other than school and homework.

  • Read 5-6 books ❌
  • Write at least 10 blog posts
  • Finish the first draft of my prologue ❌ – I started it but I haven’t finished it yet.
  • Drink more water (real problem for me) ❌ – I don’t really know. I might’ve drunken more water, I don’t really keep track.
  • Journal at least two times a week ❌
  • Clear off some shelves in my room

  • Read 5 books
  • Write at least 10 blog posts
  • Finish the first draft of my prologue

I did a bit of blog hopping this month. I didn’t do a whole lot, but I discovered some new blogs, which I’m happy about. Here’s some posts from April that I liked!
